Tee remake

Hey there, I wanted to share my tee shirt remake. I started with a mans tee shirt that was too big. What I wanted was a more fitted tee so it had some shape. Here's what I came up with....

                                     BEFORE
                                     AFTER

And here is what I did....
Cut off each sleeve at seam, cut shirt apart at shoulders and sides, then cut off collar.

Now you fold each shirt piece in half and place your pattern, making any adjustments that you need. I forgot to take pics of the sleeves. I used a shortened sleeve pattern reusing the bottom hem of the old sleeve. Lastly, I just serged around the neckline and the hemline.

And there you have it! A cute woman's tee from a boxy man's shirt.

Here is a way to use up all those old tee's! I made my kid a pair of long shorts out of an adult medium tee shirt.

                                    BEFORE
                                                                                                       AFTER

Ok, here's what you do....
Cut off both sleeves. You may have to adjust how much you cut into the shirt to allow for adequate crotch room. (the sleeve holes are your premade crotch!) Now cut off the shirt at the collar. Next, you can either cut the shirt in half up the middle, or if you don't want to cut through the design, cut up each side instead.

Now, fold each piece in half, right sides together and sew up the leg to the crotch. Now, leaving one still inside out, turn the other leg right side out and insert it into the other leg. Sew up the crotch, then pull pant leg out. Now you have shorts that are inside out. Fold over about an inch at the waist and sew around to create the casing. Flip shorts right side out and using a seam ripper or scissors, cut 2 slits in the front of the casing (the top layer only!!!) and thread your drawstring through. (I just used some strips of the sleeve material sewn together) And there you go! Super comfy board shorts!

Ignore my kid's silly pose...he's weird but loves the shorts!
